ZeroTurnaround Releases Latest Version of its Java Productivity Tool

ZeroTurnaround has unveiled company’s latest version of Java productivity tool, Jrebel 5.0. The service is reportedly used by more than 3000 companies around the world.

Jrebel 5.0 works like a JVM plug-in that allows Java developers to quickly see any code change made to an app without redeploying it. The solution lets customers see code changes instantly, allowing them to only make upgrades one at a time instead of being forced to revert to lump application redeployment.

"The most exciting part of the JRebel 5.0 release for us is definitely JRebel Remoting, which lets development teams to use JRebel both locally and remotely on cloud-based servers," commented Jevgeni Kabanov, co-founder and CEO at ZeroTurnaround.

JRebel promises to eliminate the need to restart, or redeploy, application servers whenever changes are made to the code base, and supports over 70 different JVM-based technologies.

In addition, ZeroTurnaround's website offers an easy to learn how-to guide for getting started with JRebel and Jelastic. It also offers a new configuration center, created to eliminate much of JRebel's manual configuration by inferring the right settings directly within the IDE.

“We are also quite happy to introduce myJRebel, our new licensing platform that allows subscribers to use JRebel as SaaS (News - Alert),” added Toomas Römer, co-founder and director of Engineering at ZeroTurnaround. “So far, we are launching myJRebel for only our Scala and F/OSS communities, with JRebel Social coming to the new platform in the next few weeks. In the longer term this will allow us to better support JRebel in the cloud, complementing JRebel Remoting."

ZeroTurnaround officials are committed to make Java more productive by building innovative, cutting-edge productivity technologies that lower expenses and overhead for development teams. The company’s customers include Bank of America, American Airlines, Lufthansa, LinkedIn, HP, Siemens (News - Alert), Logica, Kayak, Oracle and IBM.
