ZeroTurnaround Unveils JRebel 5.0

JRebel from ZeroTurnaround is a JVM plug-in that allows Java developers to quickly see any code change made to an app without having to redeploy it. The solution lets customers see code changes instantly, allowing them to only make upgrades one at a time instead of being forced to revert to lump application redeployment.

Recently, the company unveiled version 5.0 release of JRebel, the company's flagship Java productivity tool currently used by over 3,000 companies around the world.

ZeroTurnaround's website offers an easy to learn how-to guide for getting started with JRebel and Jelastic. It also offers a new configuration center, created to eliminate much of JRebel's manual configuration by inferring the right settings directly within the IDE, the company stated in a press release.

“We are also quite happy to introduce myJRebel, our new licensing platform that allows subscribers to use JRebel as SaaS (News - Alert). So far, we are launching myJRebel for only our Scala and F/OSS communities, with JRebel Social coming to the new platform in the next few weeks. In the longer term this will allow us to better support JRebel in the Cloud, complementing JRebel Remoting," added Toomas Römer, co-founder and director of Engineering at ZeroTurnaround.

In 2011, the company announced that Bain Capital Ventures and notable angel investors including Salil Deshpande are now backing ZeroTurnaround. The company offers innovative productivity improving solutions for the Java community which includes JRebel and LiveRebel. By eliminating the build and redeployment process and allowing companies to instantly see changes made to their code within development applications, JRebel is the only solution that allows developers to save 15-20 percent of their coding time.
