Damballa Enhances its CSP Cyber Threat Solution

Damballa has been a big part of cyber-security in recent years. Its Damballa CSP (News - Alert) 1.7 has been revered as one of the best cyber threat solutions for internet service and telecommunication providers, and one of the few commercially available. The firm is now announcing updates in the form of version 1.7.

These enhanced features allow the CSP to detect malware or other developing cyber threats even before they are picked up by the rest of the security community. Since cyber criminals are always moving and evolving, the update will also have support for IPV6 and any IPV6-based threats that may come along.

The CSP can now also combat threats that make use of tactics such as Domain Generation Algorithms, which tend to help criminals avoid detection. They can, however, be detected by analyzing characteristics of domain fluxing, which the CSP 1.7 can do.

"Service providers are facing increasing pressure to provide 'clean pipes' and to protect their subscribers from cyber crime that threatens to steal customer credentials, commit fraudulent transactions or commandeer the subscriber device to launch DDoS or other cyber attacks," said Kirk Appelman, vice president of service provider solutions for Damballa. "Damballa is actively involved in industry-wide efforts to address this issue, including participating in developing the U.S. Anti-Bot Code of Conduct."

"Cyber fraud and information theft stemming from botnet activity within Internet and mobile service provider networks are proliferating, and Damballa is leading the industry in early warning capabilities," stated Appelman. "Damballa is the only 'out-of-the-box' solution capable of detecting subscriber infections and threats by monitoring DNS traffic. Damballa CSP customers include some of the largest ISP and mobile network providers in the world."

Cyber threats are constantly changing, so the solutions to them need to be just as adaptable. Thankfully, Damballa’s CSP system is not only keeping cyber criminals on their toes, but also making sure to get in the hands of as many people and businesses as possible.
