Chelsio Unveils Enhanced Unified Storage Server

Chelsio Communications (News - Alert) has unveiled an enhanced version of its Unified Storage Server or USS software. Affordable Ethernet storage in enterprise data centers and cloud computing implementations will be offered more than one million IOPS performance, with the latest stages of dependability and scalability using the latest software release, USS 2.1.

Other features of USS 2.1 include high availability, iSCSI scalability and live migration for storage networks. An extremely scalable and dependable storage offering is being provided by Chelsio, which also offers completely incorporated assistance for Chelsio T4 Unified Wire 10Gb Ethernet adapters.

Similar to the Fiber Channel offerings, Chelsio offering also provides enhanced performance and reduced expenses.

Chelsio USS 2.1 is being implemented by Vivavo to develop a single high-availability head, capable of scaling 0.5 Petabyte installation with improved performance, accessibility and incorporation.

High-availability, together with dual-node and nested RAID support, is possible with USS 2.1. USS version 2.1 offers iSCSI scaling by advantageously using several distributed iSCSI targets for a maximum of one Petabyte of storage capacity. Higher capacity storage disks can be swapped out without severing connections or disturbing clients and applications using the Live Migration feature.

The latest release also offers luster over RDMA support for selected HPC applications. 4-port 10GbE and 40GbE T4 Adapters may also see improved support.

iSCSI target, CIFS, NFS, FTP, HTTP, Thin Provisioning volumes, Volume cloning, snapshots, instant restore from snapshots, volume encryption and replication compression are supported by the latest USS software. Organizations can purchase a single-seat USS 2.1 license for $5,168.

Chelsio Unified Wire adapters can be advantageously used by all data, storage and high-performance clustering applications, as a unified fabric is allowed over one wire by concurrently running all unchanged IP sockets, Fiber Channel and InfiniBand applications over Ethernet at line rate. An improved level of performance metrics and functional capabilities is introduced by Chelsio adapters to the networking space.
