Oracle Announces Availability of New Solution for Communications Service Providers

Now Communications Service Providers can create new charging models and rapidly launch differentiated services with the availability of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control Solution. The new solution is a highly scalable online charging and session control platform for communications service providers (CSPs). When Oracle (News - Alert) Communications Network Charging and Control and Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management are integrated, they provide a high   performance session control and charging interface.

Oracle is also offering a new Software Development Kit with the solution. This software kit enables CSPs to widen the functionality of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control to add unique features to their customer offerings. This kit helps to accelerate time to market for new features by removing the need for custom product coding. It also allows customization of service management, network integration and service logic capabilities, without changes to core product codes, to ensure that performance, scalability and future product upgradability are not compromised.

The new solution adheres to the most recent 3GPP Diameter credit control standards, and facilitated CSPs to arrange new data charging models and create unique and differentiated charging models by extending those standards.

Usage of this new solution improves overall application performance and scalability through its optimized integration with Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management. Oracle’s solution offers pre-built service templates to help CSPs more rapidly deliver innovative value-added services and support partner and social relationship models.

In a press release, Liam Maxwell, vice president of products at Oracle Communications, said, “This release underscores Oracle's commitment to deliver high-performance, scalable and extensible products. By enabling customers to develop their own customized plug-ins, we provide them extreme business agility, while helping them to avoid costly coding and maintain a clear upgrade path to future product versions.”

Oracle was recently in news when it entered into an agreement to acquire Vitrue, a provider of cloud-based social marketing and engagement platform that allows marketers to publish, manage, and report on their social marketing campaigns and activities. Both the companies are based in the U.S.
