LetterGen Migrates to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization

Red Hat (News - Alert) Enterprise Virtualization 3 is the first enterprise-ready, fully open source virtualization platform and a virtualization management solution for server and desktop virtualization. For companies looking for improve total cost of ownership (TCO), faster return on investment (ROI), accelerated break-even, and freedom from vendor lock-in, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization reflects a true strategic virtualization alternative.

Recently, the company announced that LetterGen NV, a Belgian supplier of document management software, has shifted its virtualized systems from VMware to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. LetterGen is looking to shift to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Red Hat Enterprise Linux to decrease expenses by over 60 percent, apart from enhancing systems maintenance and improving services for its customers throughout Europe.

To successfully manage the migration, LetterGen used BTR Services, a Red Hat Advanced Business Partner that provides services in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. BTR Services could automatically change machines from its existing format to the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization format with the help of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization V2V tools, the company stated in a press release.

“We made the strategic decision to migrate to Red Hat for a variety of reasons, but in particular, we were impressed by Red Hat's subscription model that has no high upfront license fees and costs the same each year. We expect the virtualization guest rights included in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription alone to lead to reduced IT-related costs by over 60 percent," said Luc Vandergoten, CEO at LetterGen.

Recently, TMC (News - Alert) reported that Porticor, a company offering cloud data security solutions joined the Red Hat Innovate program to provide an end-to-end cloud data security solution based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux to Red Hat customers.
