Fluor Completes Construction of Polysilicon Plant in Xinyu City

For nearly a century, clients have selected Fluor Corporation, which designs, builds and maintains many of the world's most challenging and complex projects, as their company of choice. Completing construction for LDK Solar’s polysilicon plant in Xinyu City, China was one more feather in its cap.

Fluor provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for the plant, according to company officials, and will also offer de-bottlenecking services and innovative technologies that accelerate the production of solar-grade silicon for the photovoltaic industry.

Production of solar-grade silicon is the most difficult step in the solar value chain, as these small silicon crystals are an important part of the photovoltaic cells that convert energy from light directly into electricity.

In fact, from beginning to end, all the three production lines were completed well within the stipulated time frame. Bye also praised the safety features designed into the plant, as well as Fluor's readiness to transfer knowledge and competency to the benefit of LDK.
