Maxthon Pushes for Improvement in Web Privacy at W3C

Maxthon aggressively lobbied for faster improvements to Web piracy during the recently held W3C (News - Alert) meeting in Nice, France. The company is a leading global software and Web services firm that wanted a greater participation from China's Internet industries so that key issues like Web privacy get immediate attention.  Jinks Zhao, Web Group Director for Maxthon, sparked the conversation at the event which also saw participation from leading Chinese Internet companies, including Tencent, Mobile 360, and UC Browser.

In a release, Jeff Chen, CEO of Maxthon, said that, "The maturation of the Internet in China is an opportunity to learn, and avoid the mistakes of other Internet pioneers. In this regard, our implementation of Do Not Track is part of a proactive campaign where we put the needs of users first.”

Established as an international community, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is a gathering of member organizations, a full-time staff, as well as representatives from the public who collaborate over development of improved Web standards. The core mission of the W3C is to fully explore the unlimited capabilities presented by the Web.

The company also pursued another vital issue at the W3C event which revolves around China’s Internet companies proactively incorporating new standards for HTML5.

Karl Mattson, GM of Maxthon International and chief of product development, said that, "We're glad to see such an important body as W3C placing such emphasis on Chinese Internet users. As a block, they represent the largest and fastest growing segment of the connected world. Free market leadership and the input of W3C make for the right partnership to resolve these issues.”

As a leading developer of advanced Web browsers, Maxthon Ltd continues to be a pioneering force behind the development of new standards for innovation, simplicity, as well as speed and security. The company also focuses on delivering next-generation browsing experience for mobile devices and tablet computers running on the Android (News - Alert) platform.
