Emerson Expands Software Applications for Data Center Infrastructure Management

Gartner (News - Alert) earlier predicated a 60-percent market penetration of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) by 2014. This penetration will be mainly motivated by improved power and heat density, data center consolidation, virtualization and cloud computing, the research company said.

To address the increased need for DCIM solution, Emerson Network Power has announced the global availability of four robust software applications for data center infrastructure management (DCIM). All four applications are based within the innovative Trellis platform. Emerson Network Power (News - Alert) is a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure.

The Trellis platform comprises the following four core components: Trellis Inventory Manager, Trellis Site Manager, Trellis Change Planner and Trellis Energy Insight. More information about Emerson Network Power’s DCIM solutions can be accessed here.

The Trellis software applications offers real-time infrastructure optimization that allows up to 70 percent improved operational efficiency and 25 percent improved energy efficiency of data centers. With the new suites, data center managers will, for the first time, have all the management capabilities they need in one solution and one central location.

The applications will also eliminate redundant processes and the need to link disparate, proprietary systems to view a complete picture of IT and facilities devices and performance.

“Infosys (News - Alert) is committed to building environmentally sustainable solutions for our clients’ enterprises,” said Ankush Patel, Infosys VP of sustainability. “With our deep experience in sustainability and data centers, we see the need for systems that excel in both energy efficiency and performance. The Emerson Network Power Trellis platform is installed in our Bangalore data center as part of the Trellis Early Adopters Program. It shows great promise in being able to continuously monitor critical systems and predict potential issues in a cost- and energy-efficient manner.”

Emerson was recently in the news when Emerson Network Power announced Cisco's (News - Alert) verification of its processing blade, known as the 3U CompactPCI for unified communications functionality, secure enough for use in federal and defense organizations.
