By Sujata GarudDetecting and tracking suspicious network behavior is a top priority for enterprises, according to a survey sponsored by TIBCO Software, a provider of infrastructure software. TIBCO Software has announced a survey of IT professionals it sponsored titled "Sorting Through the Noise: SANS Eighth Annual 2012 Log and Event Management Survey."
A full copy of the survey can be found here.
Majority of surveyed IT professionals said that organizations can't identify attackers because of insufficient data. 82 percent of surveyed respondents were highly concerned about identifying suspicious network behavior. 65 percent of IT professionals said that supporting forensic analysis and correlation was a concern for them. 58 percent and 54 percent of those surveyed voted for prevention of incidents and detecting Advanced Persistent Threats (APT (News - Alert)), respectively.
Organizations said that they are using log management solutions to do more than just strengthen security.
“Increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks and growing mounds of data are placing unprecedented pressure on organizations,” said Raj Verma, vice president, Worldwide Marketing at TIBCO. “Most find it difficult to keep up with, and most importantly prevent, the millions of security incidents across global networks. This survey confirms that enterprises need advanced log intelligence solutions that allow them to better integrate, correlate and analyze system data in order to capture the right data at the right time so that they can make more effective decisions to improve security and compliance. We are delighted to provide organizations with an industry-leading solution to meet these needs.”
TIBCO Software was recently in the news when the company said that PT XL AxiataTbk has chosen TIBCO software to power its new mobile payment solution, expanding its revenue opportunities and bridging economic barriers for the country's population. PT XL AxiataTbk is Indonesia's second largest mobile carrier. Indonesia ranks among the world's top users of mobile phones and it is not uncommon for consumers to have more than one mobile handset.
