R1Soft Releases CDP 4.0 Add-On

R1Soft updated their already enormously successful program, Continuous Data Protection 4.0, with new features.

The add-on provides server backups as frequently as once an hour at an absolute minimum of interference with server performance. Additionally, the new software offers disk safe AES-256 encryption.

R1Soft Products, vice president, David Wartell, says CDP 4.0 currently protects and provides backup for as many as 250,000 windows and Linux servers and runs with equal congeniality on both.

CDP 4.0 offers full administrative capabilities via the web. With one copy of CDP Enterprise, you can manage as many as 30 server backups and send data to disk-based storage remotely.

Bare-Metal Restore (BMR) restores your entire file system, soup-to-nuts. A faster method for larger file caches, BMR requires a fewer number of steps than more comparable disaster recovery systems.

The “Explorer-style” interface of CDP 4.0 allows users to easily manage and monitor recovery points through bulk editing features, and monitor the restore jobs in detail as they progress.

The virtual full Windows backups allow that a single, specific disk blocks are only stored once unless they change. No matter how many recovery points you choose for backup, the system only saves the changes, allowing a virtually unlimited number of save points to be stored in a finite amount of spite.

CDP 4.0 has garnered positive reviews from such high profile clients as Cisco. Bill Yu, an engineer at the company, called the product a "killer deal." He also spoke highly of the user interface, referring to it as "pretty intuitive."

The basic package for CDP 4.0 currently sells for $699. The server side version of the new add-on goes for $150.

R1Soft, a division of Idera, develops a wide variety of backup software for both Windows and Linux servers that utilize cloud computing. Internationally renowned for their backup solutions and hosting services, more than 1,000 public cloud providers use CDP.
