Snapt Offers Free Open Source Solutions

With availability of free open source software, a common computer and Internet user can use the licensed software as is or make changes as needed under an open source agreement.  Open source testing tools are gaining in popularity as they are cost-effective and encourage innovation. In fact, in recent years many large software development companies have been putting their efforts into open source projects.

Considering the emerging opportunities for future free and open software solutions (FOSS), South African development company Snapt has launched a series of revolutionary user interface tools that effectively utilize this open source software to provide powerful and economical solutions for corporate clients. In this fast pace corporate environment, commercial software continues to lose attraction.

According to company officials, unlike commercial software tools, Snapt's high-end customized open source software tools are not only easy to use, but at the same time offer the kind of support and reporting traditionally associated with commercial software offerings.

"Our mission in the creation of Snapt was essentially to make open source software accessible and useable for big businesses," said Dave Blakey, CEO of Snapt. "The user interfaces we've created can empower enterprises to really harness these existing frameworks, and ultimately manage them in the same way they would with commercial software, but at a fraction of the cost."

4Di Capital, a venture capitalist firm has also recognized the potential of Snapt and extended its support to the company.

"We immediately identified with the opportunity to make FOSS network and server applications more accessible to a broader market," said Douglas Cherry, a partner at 4Di Capital.

Snapt Squid is a for businesses that enables administrators full access control, allowing them to block sites, deny certain IPs and manage server capacity effectively, according to company officials.
