SEPATON Receives Two Key Symantec Certifications for Data Backup

SEPATON Inc., provider of enterprise-level disk-based data protection services, proudly announced its S2100 platform has received certification for supporting Symantec’s NetBackup OpenStorage (OST) Auto Image Replication (A.I.R) software solution. Symantec (News - Alert) also certified SEPATON’s support for optimized synthetic backups.

SEPATON is a major source for data protection solutions, specifically for larger enterprises. Its S2100 platform supports massive amounts of data from multiple environments. The S2100 system supports OST/10 GB Ethernet protocols and tape/Fiber Channel on the same system. The system is highly scalable to provide flexibility as the company grows.

“With this announcement, SEPATON extends its lead in the OST backup market by offering the first certified implementation of A.I.R. for NetBackup by an independent vendor,” Joe Forgione, senior VP of product operations and business development at SEPATON, stated in a press release. “Our comprehensive OST functionality enables large enterprise IT organizations to eliminate administrative and operational complexity as data protection is consolidated into a single, integrated process across the entire infrastructure.”

Support for A.I.R. makes SEPATON’s disk-based backup solution faster and easier for large enterprises to recover lost information caused by natural disasters or other likely events. Synthetic backups over TCP/IP are a more efficient method for backing up data, since it allows for on-demand backups within the SEPATON system itself. OST allows NetBackup to view as disk, eliminating the need for tape emulation.

The S2100 system offers exceptional speed capabilities, starting with a single processing node and scaling up to eight nodes. System performance speeds can reach 43.2 TB per hour, according to SEPATON.

SEPATON provides data backup and recovery services for some of the world’s largest enterprises, including wireless companies, casinos and resorts, energy companies and more. Symantec provides data protection and management services worldwide, and offers several certification programs.
