Unitas Global Expands Footprint in Asia Pacific with Platform Equinix

Equinix (News - Alert), a provider of carrier neutral data centers and Internet exchanges, announced Unitas Global, an infrastructure-based MSP, has expanded its footprint in Asia Pacific by hosting in regional Equinix data centers.

Unitas Global, which designs and operates IT Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), selected Platform Equinix in Singapore and Sydney, Australia. Unitas Global can now access Equinix’s secure, highly available and high-connectivity data center environments to support the company’s business growth in the region.

Hosting in Equinix platform, Unitas can support its global expansion, as well as securely reach cloud service providers and enterprise customers operating in Equinix data centers across the Asia-Pacific region.  The company also plans to expand to other key local Equinix data centers.

With 11 data centers across five key markets in Asia-Pacific, in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and Shanghai, Equinix services more than 900 customers in the region, including cloud and IT service providers such as Voxel (News - Alert), IBM, Kyocera and Fujitsu.

The greatest advantage of Equinix data centers is their strategic locations in the region.

Tony Simonsen, country manager for Equinix Australia, thinks Platform Equinix deployment helps Unitas Global satisfy the most stringent data sovereignty requirements to effectively market its IaaS services to a broad range of direct customers and managed services providers.

Equinix recently announced plans to build a new International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Washington, D.C. Targeted to open in early 2013, the Company said the first phase is expected to cost $88 million in expansion capital, and will have space for 1,200 cabinets with capacity for an additional 1,800 cabinets in the future.
