CoreLink Data Centers Performs HIPAA Security Requirements Review within SSAE 16 Audit

CoreLink Data Centers, a data center hosting and managed services provider of critical infrastructure services, has confirmed that the company has performed its review of controls and procedures to meet the requirements of the HIPAA Security Rule, which was part of the SSAE 16 audit.

The company officials said that they have successfully completed the HIPAA security review on all of CoreLink's colocation facilities. That audit even addressed a full suite of data center service metrics at the company's five data centers, including power, temperature and network availability.

The SSAE 16 audit enables companies to follow a step by step method for disclosing independently assessed information about the design and operation of internal controls related to their services. It is issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), and is considered the authoritative guidance standard for service organizations.

CoreLink managed to check on the security portion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) during the SSAE 16 audit. The HIPAA security rule majorly checks on any entity that electronically receives, stores, processes or transmits electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) must protect and secure that data.

In addition, the HIPAA security rule recognizes the required administrative, technical and physical safeguards, some of which apply to the business of a data center.

After a thorough examination, the independent auditors' have confirmed that, CoreLink's multiple layers of physical security and monitoring systems, as well as its stringent access protocols can easily safeguard customer IT hardware.

In other news, CoreLink recently announced an agreement to provide its full suite of fully transparent services and relentless 24/7 support to Virsage Solutions, which provides cloud-based Desktop as a Service (DaaS) and online data protection offerings to small- and medium-sized businesses.
