Drobo Partners with Acronis to Provide Backup, Recovery Solution

Companies using heterogeneous backup solutions for storage should have reliable, repeatable recovery systems, the facility to choose among application agents vs. agent-less and the ability to migrate physical resources to virtual.

Drobo has teamed up with Acronis to provide a backup and recovery solution for companies with limited resources but still want to give virtualization a try.

Acronis products are used by more than 175,000 businesses across a range of industries worldwide, the company stated in a press release.

Acronis offers easy-to-use DR and data protection solutions in heterogeneous environments. The firm’s solutions cater economically to the needs of the companies into the future. Acronis provides services to medium enterprises and offers a reliable solution for SMBs when deployed with Drobo storage.

“Acronis and Drobo already share a mutual customer base – hundreds of businesses have successfully deployed our solutions together,” said Tom Buiocchi, CEO of Drobo. “This release highlights commitments by both companies to make our technologies even easier to manage together. We see a rise in virtual server adoption in even the smallest of customers, with many using both physical and virtual machines.”

TMC’s (News - Alert) Carolyn J Dawson reported in 2011 that Drobo released cloud storage industry predictions for 2012. The company rendered its predictions based on interactions with thousands of customers, analysts and industry luminaries. According to the company, the end of current cloud storage is near, and a hybrid approach will become more popular than pure cloud adoption for both home users and small-medium businesses or SMBs.
