Xpert.net Looks to Provide Customizable On-Site Linux Servers at a Low Price Point

Consulting and colocation service provider Earthnet recently launched a new company called Xpert.net. The brainchild of engineers Paul Rennix and Matt Simmons, two men experienced with providing custom solutions for the managed Web hosting field, Xpert.net aims to offer an affordable Linux hosting option which can be managed on site — avoiding cloud storage solutions which can be costly in terms of bandwidth and troublesome to access because of the need for a constant Internet connection in order to access stored data. Having a server on site also provides administrators with root access, allowing them to control all aspects of hosting like setting permissions and user roles.

Xpert.net offers customers the choice of three different server machines with the cheapest costing $69 per month to rent and the most expensive costing $139 per month. Each model can be customized by customers at check out, allowing RAM (News - Alert), bandwidth and storage to be upgraded if necessary. Most importantly, each Xpert.net server can come configured with standard Linux distributions OpenSUSE or Ubuntu (News - Alert), as well as any free Linux distribution of choice — for an additional fee.

Xpert.net also allows customers to order additional servers as needed with no real limit to the number of servers that can be rented each month. And, with a no-contract system in place, customers pay on a per-month basis as well as cancel service at any time.

Xpert.net’s local server service is a great way to provide local server access to administrators while keeping down on cost, making it ideal for small-business use. Xpert.net is also a smart move for Earthnet, as it allows the company to expand its cloud-based colocation and dedicated server services, allowing it to appeal to a larger customer base.

Earthnet was founded in 1994 and is located in Boulder, Colo.
