Data Foundry Ensures Security with Disaster Recovery and Data Center Solutions

Founded back in 1994, Data Foundry has watched technology change the data center industry and has managed to stay ahead of the curve by becoming an early adapter of game changers like the cloud. During the company’s sixteen years in business, the Internet service provider has supported thousands of enterprise companies in every industry, including high performance computing, energy, financial services, healthcare and technology firms with its data center solutions.

After becoming the first ISP in San Antonio, TX in 1994, Data Foundry set out to expand its business with three data center locations, one in Houston and two in Austin, and introduced collocation and enterprise data services to its customers. Over the last decade, the company has additionally added two power sources and two generators to further expand its expertise of data center outsourcing, collocation and disaster recovery services.

According to Data Foundry, Texas possesses an independent power grid that has always provided a surplus of energy, therefore making disaster recovery and workplace recovery that much easier. In addition, Austin specifically is one of the regions that is least affected by natural disasters, which decreases the risks of companies losing data in the event of an unexpected disaster.

When Data Foundry visited ITEXPO (News - Alert) East in Miami this past January, Greg Nielsen, VP of Global Business Development for the company, explained the significance of how cloud-based technologies are changing the data center industry today as networks are moving towards the cloud rather than times when everyone had designated server rooms on site.  In Data Foundry’s collocation facilities, the company is able to harness and capture the cloud for the benefit of its customers.

Shortly after Data Foundry’s visit to ITEXPO, the company officially introduced its Channel Partners Program welcoming several new partners such as COLOTRAQ, a global sourcing advisory firm for telecom and IT services. With its Channel Partners Program, Data Foundry enables service providers, agents and value-added resellers with the resources and services necessary to address the growing demand for premium data center space and disaster recovery solutions.

Data Foundry’s Channel Partner (News - Alert) Program offers participants the opportunity to deliver a comprehensive solution to their clients. All Data Foundry partners have access to state-of-the-art collocation, reliable connectivity, and dedicated worksite recovery space. These services are seamlessly integrated into their clients’ existing suite of services, and provide an immediate value-add to the partner and to the customer, according to the company.

Nielsen added that Data Foundry’s main headquarters in Austin is run by about 120 employees and serves as the only commercial facility in Austin that’s manned 24/7.

“Our solutions have evolved to this point because of the demand and because all of the technology that has been created due to our market. The demand is driving more of the computing from the fringe into the core, which pushes more computing needs into a core facility and you’d better be sure that data center has all you need to watch your critical data, shifts from the edge to the core,” Nielsen added.
