Digitalsmiths Adds New Feature to Seamless Discovery Platform

Digitalsmiths, a global provider of video content discovery and personalized viewing solutions, recently announced that service providers using the Seamless Discovery platform can now incorporate real-time social data into entertainment recommendations.

The new feature, named Social Discovery, will enable service providers to offer personalized recommendations to their users, eliminating the need for users to browse trending topics on social networking sites. Social Discovery’s benefits will be explained by the company in a webinar on March 28, 2012.

“Buzz on social networks, particularly trends on Twitter (News - Alert), is playing an increasingly important role in entertainment discovery,” said Ben Weinberger, Digitalsmiths CEO and co-founder, in a statement. “By rolling real-time social conversations into our search and recommendations solution, we can provide a more seamless experience to end-users.”

Social Discovery is an interesting addition to Seamless Discovery platform which has an aggregation framework that integrates seamlessly with industry standard data sources and any proprietary or custom metadata feeds. Designed to scale to millions of simultaneous users across the globe, the distributed architecture of Seamless Discovery makes it easy to integrate, simple to manage and able to perform seamlessly without downtime, system delays or connectivity issues.

“Our research shows social media is very influential in helping a consumer discover new content,” said Colin Dixon (News - Alert), senior partner of The Diffusion Group. “Any company in the entertainment space needs to take full advantage of social discovery to help elevate the right shows and movies above the ocean of content available.”

Built on a trusted relationship with content owners, Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery delivers the most personally relevant search and recommendations. The Digitalsmiths time-based database also enables second screen synchronized experiences, including computers, tablets, mobile devices or just about any other connected device.
