VMware, provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure, has announced that all the major extensions to the Spring Framework are now compatible with Spring 3.1, the latest version of the open source Java development framework.
VMware is a provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions that enable businesses to thrive on the Cloud.
Spring Integration, Spring Security, Spring Batch, Spring Data, Spring Mobile and Spring for Android (News - Alert) are now all compatible with the latest version of Spring, company officials said.
Using Spring, an application development framework for Java script, millions of developers create easily tested, reusable code without any lock-in.
“Driving application development for today’s enterprises with powerful simplifying technology, Spring is the premier choice for developers looking for an extensible, portable and open source framework,” said Adrian Colyer, chief technology officer for Cloud and Application Services at VMware.
The Spring Framework is an open source application framework and Inversion of Control container for the Java platform, and helps in building applications based on Java technologies. With the Spring Framework, enterprise developers can integrate security models, databases, web services and messaging systems into apps deployed within any Java environment.
“The latest release of the Spring Framework and its major extensions continue the tradition of taking care of the infrastructure so developers can focus on building applications that address today's business requirements,” Colyer added.
Spring makes it simple to access enterprise information stored in traditional databases, new NoSQL data platforms and “big data” distributed processing solutions like Apache Hadoop. And thanks to the new addition of new REST enhancements, Java developers with Spring can build the services critical to mobilizing enterprise applications.
Evans Data’s research report, “Spring Usage Study,” noted that Spring is the framework of choice among expert Java writers, and its developers report productivity and speed of deployment as the top two reasons for using Spring. According to the report, 70 percent of Spring users report at least a 50-percent productivity gain by using Spring and 73 percent report that Spring allows them to deliver projects twice as fast.
The study also found that Spring users are more cloud ready. Evans Data results also showed that heavy Spring adopters are more likely to have already deployed applications to the cloud.
Last month, Symantec and VMware announced five new security integrations with the VMware cloud infrastructure suite, designed to deliver extensive protection for virtual and cloud environments along with operational cost savings.
