Fortinet is a Leader in Gartner's Unified Threat Management Magic Quadrant

Fortinet, a network security solutions provider, has been recognized by Gartner, Inc. as a leader in the "Unified Threat Management Magic Quadrant."

Fortinet (News - Alert) is recognized for its FortiGate security appliances that offer unmatched performance, flexibility and security for large enterprise or service provider networks.

While they protect complex, multi-tenant cloud-based security-as-a-service and infrastructure-as-a-service environments, The FortiGate-5000 series networking blades distribute high-speed network traffic to multiple FortiGate security blades, enabling wire-speed firewall performance at 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE), GbE and 10/100 link speeds. Traffic routing and load-balancing services accelerate and optimize security functions, while allowing network protection to scale effortlessly with users’ growth plans.

"Fortinet has been an innovator and leader in the unified threat management space for more than 11 years. As businesses and the threat landscape evolve, we continue to stay in front of the threats and deliver outstanding protection for our customers," Ken Xie, founder and CEO of Fortinet, said in a statement. "Customers of all sizes understand the value of unified threat management because these types of appliances protect their networks while simplifying their IT environments, streamlining performance and lowering their total cost of ownership."

Under the UTM Magic Quadrant, Gartner (News - Alert) defines midsize businesses as those with 100 to 1,000 employees, and revenue ranging from $50 million to $1 billion. The majority of midsize businesses’ annual revenue, however, is in the range of $100 million to $500 million, with head count ranging from 200 to 1,000.

Multifunction network security appliances, commonly called UTM appliances, are frequently used across midsize businesses due to their particular security requirements. In this UTM Magic Quadrant, Gartner evaluates 13 vendors delivering UTM solutions.

Fortinet has also unveiled a wide range of new network security appliances that provide mid-sized enterprises with the power to manage the growing complexity of their IT infrastructure and secure their vital assets. The firm released a combination of consolidated command and control technologies as well as tailored solutions to help protect messaging environments, provide remote access authentication and optimize Web content caching.
