ZyXEL Enhances Unified Security Gateway Product Line with Commtouch Integration

Networking company ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert) announced it has integrated Commtouch's security suite in into its ZyWALL Unified Security Gateway (News - Alert) (USG) product line to provide customers with secure email and Internet browsing.

ZyXEL's ZyWALL USG enables small- and medium-sized businesses to secure their business networks. By integrating Commtouch's (News - Alert) security services to the ZyXEL offering, the company now provides end customers with wider threat coverage and enhanced protection from continuously changing threats.

Commtouch's security suite consists of cloud-based anti-spam and Web filtering solutions.

ZyXEL selected Commtouch's email security suite and GlobalView URL Filtering solutions to block unwanted email such as spam, malware and phishing. The solution also reduces the quantity of messages passing through the system. With GlobalView URL Filtering, users are protected from browsing malicious websites that could infect malware through drive-by downloads or steal users' private credentials.

“ZyXEL is a leading provider of security products and solutions for small and medium sized businesses,” said Alpha Chen, vice president and head of the Enterprise Solution Business Unit at ZyXEL, in a statement.

“The inclusion of Commtouch's protection solutions in our offerings provides even more sophisticated threat coverage with superior performance, enabling us to offer more competitive products and solutions, with advanced features, to satisfy the needs of our customers,” Chen added.

Commtouch provides consolidated security solutions for networking and unified threat management (UTM) vendors in Asia-Pacific. Commtouch Anti-Spam, Antivirus and Web Filtering services are available as stand-alone or unified software development kits (SDKs), allowing easy integration into any operating system or platform.

“We're pleased to have been selected by ZyXEL as its security technology partner and to provide its users with enhanced protection from spam, malware and Web threats,” said Ofer Tal, vice president of International Sales and Business Development at Commtouch, in a statement.

“The selection of our security suite by another major global networking powerhouse demonstrates Commtouch's leadership in providing threat protection technology to vendors serious about providing the best possible protection for their users,” Tal added.

Earlier this year, Polkast, a personal cloud service that securely connects a user's computers and mobile devices directly, showcased a prototype of its seamless integration with the ZyXEL IP Media Server NSA300 series at the CES (News - Alert).
