By Calvin AzuriNetronome (News - Alert) recently announced the completion of a significant upgrade to its suite of Network Flow Management (NFM) software. The company is a developer of flow processors and also announced new application kits for advanced range of firewalls (NGFW), IPsec, intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and for SSL inspection.
In a release, Joe Byrne, senior analyst at The Linley Group, said that, “Netronome's new software application kits provide an extensive set of building blocks for security applications. That enables OEMs to focus on development of their applications, while significantly increasing performance with Netronome's flow processors.”
The company’s NFM software has been designed as a robust suite of production-ready reference software for the NFP-3240 network flow processors (NFP) which help in developing a wide range of cyber security applications at a much faster rate.
The IDS/IPS application kit from Netronome which leverages an integrated dynamic load balancer, and hardware-based packet classification and stateful management of flows ensures acceleration of x86-based IDS/IPS applications.
The NGFW application kit on the other hand improves IDS/IPS use case via its suite of policy enforcement and packet forwarding capabilities to and from different network segments via integrated L2 and L3 forwarding along with network address and port translation (NAPT), and IPsec VPN support and SSL inspection.
The company is also working on developing inspection application kits for IPsec and SSL inspection. These kits will be provides as standalone application solution capable of supporting integration with different applications and use cases.
Jarrod Siket, senior vice president of marketing at Netronome, said that, “Networking OEMs are designing 100 Gbps applications that require full visibility into all layers of network traffic, including encrypted communications. With Netronome's innovative, workload-specific processing architecture vendors can combine Netronome's flow processors and software application kits with standard x86 processors to bring high-performance security products to market quickly.”
