Symplified Partners with Symantec to Provide Unified Cloud Identity and Access Management Platform

Identity and access management (IAM) services are extremely important as an increasing number of remote users and workers utilize applications and services based in the cloud. Recently, Symplified, a company that provides seamless identity and access management across cloud, Web and mobile apps, revealed that its cloud and identity and access management (IAM) service supports the Symantec (News - Alert) Validation and ID Protection (VIP) Service for strong authentication.

This launch is significant because in today’s more distributed cloud-based and mobile world, a range of previous standards has been forever altered. Cloud-based services and Web access solutions have transformed how organizations and users connect. While individual users have flocked to a range of new services, apps, and messaging solutions, for large enterprises it has not been a simple transition. Compatibility issues between on-premise and cloud systems, security, data retention, and compliance are just some of the roadblocks large organizations face as they move their computing infrastructure to the cloud.

For those reasons, Symantec VIP is a new option within Symplified's adaptive authentication capability which can intelligently challenge users for stronger types of identity verification when they request access to an application from devices or networks that could pose a security risk. Eric Olden, CEO and founder of Symplified said, "Symplified's vision is to provide a unified cloud identity and access management platform that addresses the convergence of access control, authentication, auditing, data protection and mobile computing. Our goal is to reduce the cost and complexity for customers, and we doing just that for more than 3.8 million licensed users."

Once a company commits to the cloud, and since all company data and applications are collected and stored “in the cloud,” access to this information may be obtained from any computer with Internet access, not just the one in the office. Thus, cloud computing can make services more accessible such as sending emails or invoices, reviewing photos or documents or setting up appointments from home, the office, and on the road. For mission critical data, companies are advised against having all of their data housed in one physical location. However, the creation of geographical redundancy through a replica environment can be costly. There lies the reason why the Symplified VIP solution can truly make a difference to companies.

"By unifying the Symantec VIP strong authentication service with the Symplified proxy gateway we streamline management and deployment with a pre-integrated solution. This all-in-one approach allows customers to turn Symantec VIP on or off as needed within the Symplified service, and to provide users with a seamless and consistent self-service experience," Olden added. In addition to Symantec VIP, Symplified also offers strong authentication options from RSA (News - Alert) SecurID, CryptoCard and others within an extensible authentication framework.
