Zhone Technologies Assists Consolidated Communications in Providing Dependable Services to Customers

Consolidated Communications (News - Alert) recently implemented a new MXK from Zhone Technologies, a specialist in FTTx network access solutions. With this deployment, Consolidated Communications will be able to provide faster and much more dependable services to its residential and business customer located in Illinois, Texas, and Pennsylvania.

Both companies have joined forces to create a robust fiber network that will enable a high speed delivery of Internet access, VoIP and video services to subscribers at reasonable rates. In a release, Tom White, vice president of engineering and operations for Consolidated Communications said, "Zhone's MXK multi-service access platform and its complementary offerings combine to deliver outstanding IP video, voice and broadband data to our customers. We selected Zhone's MXK platform for the increased density, scale and performance to address our network needs - and have since then deployed more than 107 MXK chassis and more than 650 MALC chassis. Zhone's superior customer service and fast deployment time are other key factors in our ongoing growth with the company. "

Consolidated Communications have been working together with Zhone from 2001 and since then over 340,000 lines have been migrated to provide a better quality media experience. One of the main reasons this was made possible was because the company leverages the latest ADSL+ splitters, 4-port Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) and multi-dwelling units (MDU) network interface devices from Zhone.
