In an effort to provide IT organizations and service providers with a solution that optimizes data center energy usage as well as that supports sustainability initiatives, Nimsoft (News - Alert) – a provider of Information Technology (IT) monitoring and service desk solutions – has rolled-out a new Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution called as ecoMeter.
The Nimsoft ecoMeter is a rapidly deployable Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution that provides a unified view of energy consumption across diverse computing, network, storage, power and cooling systems.
In addition, the Nimsoft ecoMeter collects real-time energy data from data center and IT infrastructure to: identify hot spots; alert users to problems; and report on consumption trends. These capabilities enable IT organizations and service providers to get greater value from their infrastructure and improve the financial transparency of IT.
“As energy prices continue to rise and companies become more committed to sustainability initiatives, there is growing demand for solutions that enable power and cooling management best practices in the data center,” said Aaron Brooks, Innovation Office, Softchoice (News - Alert), said in a statement. “Nimsoft ecoMeter delivers the rich insight our clients need to take a practical, fact-based approach to energy management that impacts bottom-line profitability.”
Apart from allowing IT organizations to better leverage available power and cooling capacity, Nimsoft’s new ecoMeter allows users to access its robust DCIM capabilities from directly within Nimsoft Monitor.
This provides users of ecoMeter with a common view of power, infrastructure health, and the end-user experience. In addition, the new DCIM solution enables customers to launch and manage processes necessary to optimize energy use, because it is integrated with the company’s Nimsoft Service Desk.
“The Nimsoft platform makes it easy for customers to modularly add new IT Management-as-a-Service capabilities as we make them available,” said Chris O'Malley, CEO of Nimsoft, in a statement. “Sourcing these management capabilities from the cloud allows them to drive down costs – even as they improve their ability to deliver reliable services and respond adaptively to the changing needs of the business.”
Officials with Nimsoft said that the company is delivering all the functionalities of ecoMeter via a scalable SaaS (News - Alert) platform, thereby making it functionally and financially feasible for mid-market IT organizations to reap the benefits of advanced energy management.
In recent news, Olive Solutions – an India-based managed service provider (MSP) – implemented the company’s Unified Performance Management solution to improve performance management across the organization.
