Webair Launches Carrier Neutral Cloud Service

Hosting provider Webair (News - Alert) unveiled its Carrier Neutral Cloud Service, aimed at giving clients the flexibility and freedom of a cloud hosting environment while providing control over their choices of network infrastructure and carrier.

The cloud service will allow customers to use any carrier of their choice while gaining the benefits of deploying a cloud hosting infrastructure, according to Michael C. Orza, president of Webair.

“Webair’s revolutionary Carrier Neutral Cloud removes barriers and provide clients with the unique ability to custom build a truly multi-homed cloud environment using any carriers they prefer,” Orza said in a company statement. “Put simply, our clients can finally take full advantage of all of the benefits of dynamic cloud hosting infrastructure without giving up any of the freedom to control their own network configurations.”

Clients can choose any carrier, multiple carriers, or build custom network configurations and tie it all into their own cloud topology with this “groundbreaking” service, Orza added, noting that businesses should take advantage of cloud computing services without the limitations of being tied to any one bandwidth provider.

As physical data center infrastructure became disassociated from particular carriers in the late 1990s, increased competition among carriers, greater consumer choice among business owners, lower bandwidth costs and more reliable services occurred as a result. With cloud computing, businesses have been choosing between the computing scalability of the cloud or the network freedom of physical infrastructure, Webair officials said. But with the scalable cloud computing services with complete carrier neutrality, businesses can have the best of both worlds.

Public and private cloud customers will be able to order connectivity directly from carriers via Webair’s cloud cross connect platform leveraging meet-me rooms in 111 8th Ave., 60 Hudson St., 25 Broadway, and Telx’s Ethernet Exchange.

Last month, Webair announced its new partnership with Fusion-io (News - Alert), and said it had deployed cloud hosting infrastructure that provides 100 times the IOP/s performance of other solutions by guaranteeing 10,000 IOP/s per instance.
