Zerto Debuts Zerto Virtual Replication 2.0

The newly released Zerto Virtual Replication 2.0 is claimed to be first ever cloud BC/DR platform built for private, hybrid and public clouds.

Zerto explained that its hypervisor-based replication and recovery technology is a software-only solution for business continuity and disaster recovery of virtualized production applications deployed in data centers and the cloud.

The new Virtual Replication 2.0 incorporates three different options for Cloud Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BC/ DR) and they are: Private Cloud BC/DR – enables business continuity and disaster recovery between two or more geographically separate sites; Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS); and In-Cloud BC/DR – provisions to move apps to a public cloud (IaaS or PaaS).

The company claimed that the Virtual Replication is the industry’s first hypervisor-based replication solution, a new replication technology purpose-built for virtual environments. Version 2.0 is designed to help clients deliver their cost-effective and highly secure disaster recovery offerings to a vast range of customers along with centralized and simplified management for mission-critical application protection.

Some of the notable features of Zerto Virtual Replication 2.0 are 100 percent VM aware – replicates specific VMs regardless of LUNs; multi-tenant architecture with centralized management and multi-site replication support; Array agnostic that replicates from any storage to any storage; software only with no capital expenditures, no changes to environment; enterprise-class BC/DR and CDP enables continuous replication, low RTO/RPO and journal-based, point-in-time recovery; full-API integrates with proprietary cloud management systems; workload migration to the cloud and in the cloud; built-in WAN compression and application policies; and more.

Terremark, a Verizon (News - Alert) Company, announced that it will be utilizing Zerto’s software for delivering its cloud-based disaster recovery service to customers.

“Cloud is becoming a key part of enterprise IT plans and BC/DR is an integral part of that. We are very proud to have been chosen by Terremark as its platform of choice for BC/DR and DRaaS. We see great opportunity in working with Terremark and other cloud service providers to help them offer DRaaS and other BC/DR services at a price point that makes sense for their enterprise customers of all sizes,” stated Ziv Kedem, CEO of Zerto.
