SanDisk Releases New X100 Solid State Drive for Enterprises

SanDisk (News - Alert), a global provider of flash memory storage software, recently launched SanDisk X100, a solid state drive (SSD) targeted at client computing markets. It also announced the launch of SanDisk Extreme SSD, a high-performance drive for retail customers to improve the performance and extend their desktop and notebook PCs life span.

SanDisk X100 is available in capacities up to 512GB and utilizes multi-level cell (MLC) technology, a SATA 6Gb/s high-performance interface, advanced multi-streaming features and tiered caching technology.

Kevin Conley, senior vice president and general manager of Client Storage Solutions at SanDisk, stated, “With the introduction of the X100 SSD, SanDisk now offers OEMs a complete selection of SSD storage choices.”

The drive provides sequential read/write speeds up to 500/420 megabyte per second (MB/sec), and allows users to copy a 4 GB high-definition movie in less than 10 seconds. In addition to the standard 2.5 inch form factor, the X100 SSD also comes in mSATA and customized thin form factors to address the emerging ultra-thin laptop market.

“From the smallest BGA form factors of the iSSD to the economical lower power U100, all the way up to the high performance and high capacity points of our new X100, SanDisk offers a solution to meet the needs of notebook, desktop and ultra-thin laptop manufacturers,” Conley added.

SanDisk offers a wide variety of configuration options, including standalone and dual drive caching solutions. It has over 20 years of experience in developing flash memory for OEMs, corporate and retail consumers.

The company’s vast product portfolio includes flash memory cards and embedded products used in smart phones, digital cameras, tablets, digital media players, camcorders, and other consumer electronic devices, as well as USB flash drives and solid-state drives (SSD) for the computing market.

In a recent development, SanDisk acquired FlashSoft Corporation, a provider of data management software, and this acquisition will help SanDisk achieve its strategy of delivering complete SSD and software solutions to enterprise storage customers.
