SUSE has confirmed a 100 percent increase in the number of SUSE Studio users in the last year. Nearly 233,500 users are now using SUSE Studio to develop cloud-ready application images.
The design, implementation and administration of cloud-ready application images have been made easy with SUSE Studio, which also offers ease and time-to-market benefits to its clients. SUSE has also confirmed that more than 1 million cloud-ready application images have been developed and managed in SUSE Gallery.
The existing challenges of developing, implementing and supervising software application images and software appliances, across physical, virtual and cloud scenarios, can now be resolved with SUSE Studio.
Independent software vendors or ISVs are able to make appliance creation easier with the wide-ranging business and technology program, SUSE Appliance Program. ISVs can also decrease development and support expenditures, and expand their applications to the cloud with this program, which includes SUSE Studio as an important unit.
In a release, Sabine Soellheim, solution marketing manager of Emerging Technologies and Cloud at SUSE said, “SUSE Studio is the only solution available today that makes it easy to create portable application stacks in minutes that can be deployed anywhere, including private and public cloud environments. SUSE Studio revolutionizes the way software is packaged and delivered. The remarkable increase in adoption in such a short period of time demonstrates that customers are getting real value through this tool.”
Sustained growth in the software appliance field has been predicted by analysts. In the next five years, IDC (News - Alert) analysts expect that the software appliance market will grow ten times, with the revenues expected to touch $3.7 billion in 2014 as compared to the $347 million recorded in 2009. Five SUSE Studio users have reported an average three-year ROI of 566 percent with nominal investment. They have also received back their investment in less than seven months.
SUSE recently collaborated with companies like Dell, Amazon and IBM (News
