CenterBeam's Patented Solution Helps You BYOS to the Cloud

CenterBeam Inc.’s advances in single-sign-on or SSO and identity management or IM have been patented in the US. Customers will now have the option to “bring your own security” (BYOS) to the cloud by utilizing the CenterBeam's latest patented innovations.

In a release, Jeffrey M. Kaplan, managing director of THINKstrategies Inc. and creator of the Cloud Computing Showplace said, “As organizations of all sizes become attracted to the rapidly expanding population of cloud-based applications, having effective SSO and IM capabilities are critical. CenterBeam's patented technology will enable more organizations to leverage SSO/IM capabilities and best practices that have been proven by some of the most security-conscious companies in the world.”

Enterprises are able to BYOS to the cloud with CenterBeam's patented technology, which concentrates on separating access rights from security. Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) infrastructure will be therefore not required by organizations for the essential SSO functionality.

CenterBeam will also offer enterprises better control over their security policies and services in the cloud, thereby allowing the cloud providers to verify all its hosted services with real SSO to the client’s Active Directory and eliminating ADFS.

User accounts and policies, like password strength, number of retries and unique passwords can be also managed by the customers of CenterBeam. Dependable security, similar to SAS (News - Alert)-70/SSAE-16 Type II and SOC2, can be therefore delivered by CenterBeam’s solution which incorporates all these features.

Shahin Pirooz, CTO for CenterBeam said, “Many enterprises have implemented rigorous security policies to protect their IT resources from being compromised. When they move their infrastructure and applications to the cloud, they're often forced to lower their security standards to leverage consumer-class cloud services or they must create their own SSO using a third-party tools that are complex and come at a high cost.”

He added, “CenterBeam developed its patented approach at the company's inception, long before anyone realized the power of the cloud and what the crucial requirements necessary to support enterprises moving to the cloud.”

In other news, CenterBeam, Inc. recently announced that Agile (News - Alert) Frameworks LLC is deploying CenterBeam's offerings to provide cloud-based solutions to its architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) clients.

Agile Frameworks, a global provider of enterprise field information management systems, consulting and managed services for the AEC market, selected CenterBeam to replace its own hosting infrastructure, as well as to establish a platform from which it can begin to offer other cloud-based applications in its vertical niche.
