Kontron Integrates Storage, Server and Networking Functions into NEBS-compliant, Compact 3U, 20" Depth Platform

Kontron (News - Alert) recently launched the storage and networking server FS3100. The new server from Kontron is a multi-function3U NEBS-compliant platform that is highly flexible and suited for mission critical streaming media, lawful interception, security and data storage applications. Kontron will display the FS3100 to equipment vendors during the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) 2012 which is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, between February 27 and March 1.

The Kontron FS3100 brings together I/O capacity, storage adaptability, network port density and processor performance. All of these features will now be available in a 3U, 20” depth platform that will remove a number of design and time-to-market issues for TEMs who are looking to implement applications in networks that are constrained.

Designed from the ground up to be telco-ready, the Kontron storage and networking server FS3100 offers a greater performance and functionality to store, process and analyze huge amounts of data across telecom Central Office and carrier cloud computing environments. Some of the other features that are available include content insertion, analysis and storage for network optimization and localized ad-distribution in streaming media applications.

Some of the key features of the new server is its ability to support dual socket six-core Intel (News - Alert) Xeon Processors 5600 Series, Intel 5520 Chipset, and 12 x RDIMM/UDIMM memory slots (DDR3-800/1066/1333) for up to 96 GB memory. The server provides a number of storage options such as rotational and high performance SSD drives that leverage 6Gb/s interfaces and also a wide range of integrated and 3rd party SW/HW RAID options for fine tuning to optimize safety and transfer rates.

The Kontron FS3100 design is NEBS compliant, comes with a rugged 20“ depth chassis design, a shallow chassis for constrained installations, multiple redundant and hot swap devices, broader thermal and altitude range and advanced system monitoring with remote management interfaces.
