ClearCube Unveils Two New High Security Zero Clients

ClearCube added to its line of zero clients on Tuesday by introducing two new models designed specifically for high security desktop authentication on the Secret Internet Protocol Routed Network (SIPRNet).

The new zero clients, the CD9424 and the CD7424, each feature the latest Smart Card Readers to ensure compliance with the PKI Office mandated standard and provide both fiber network connections and copper network connections.

In addition, the zero clients are compatible with specific versions of VMware View and the PCoIP protocol, allowing users to verify their identity through the PCoIP encrypted protocol. Each zero client supports 5v, 3v, and 1.8v smart cards – including the new SIPR hardware token – which ClearCube says will eliminate the need for users to carry around multiple USB readers if they have several smart cards.

As with all zero clients, the CD9424 and the CD7424 will help eradicate all the clutter that comes with a full system. More importantly, ClearCube's zero clients can alleviate the headache that accompanies carrying around multiple credentials.

With the integrated Smart Card Readers, users can gain a higher posture on DoD SIPRNet without having to remember user names or passwords. The readers also eliminate the need to conduct password resets.

ClearCube says that the inspiration for the zero clients came directly from their customers, who were tired of dragging around a myriad of smart cards.

"Integrating a single smart card reader capable of reading and authenticating smart cards that have a variety of voltages has been requested by many of our federal customers to simplify their security operations," Jim Zakzeski, VP of Business Development and Marketing at ClearCube, noted in a statement.

The devices are designed with government deployments and enterprises that require sustainable computing and security in mind. They are currently available for sale on ClearCube's website.
