ProtonMedia Introduces Next Generation of its Collaboration Software

ProtonMedia (News - Alert), the developer of ProtoSphere, announced the introduction of ProtoSphere 2.0. In its enhanced version, the collaboration software deeply integrates with Microsoft (News - Alert) technologies and offers an array of new features.

ProtoSphere is the business collaboration software platform that allows organizations to create an always-on virtual workspace. Version 2.0 allows organizations to create an always-on immersive, social, learning and collaboration environment where, at any moment, they can bring together the right people from around the globe and share and transfer contents.

ProtoSphere 2.0 also takes business collaboration to the next level by providing a 3D immersive environment. The platform is used by enterprise organizations in life sciences, health care, insurance, consumer products, high-tech, energy/manufacturing, and other vertical markets for speedy and effective knowledge transfer, learning, social engagement and sharing business-critical information.

In its upgraded version, ProtoSphere 2.0 includes an array of new features, ProtonMedia said in a press release.

ProtoSphere 2.0 features Lync presence extending throughout the virtual immersive environment. This includes contact cards, voice conferencing, text messaging, enterprise-wide IM integration, application sharing, and the ability to invite individuals to join directly in ProtoSphere with just a single click. ProtoSphere 2.0 also has compatibility with Microsoft Office Communicator.

ProtoSphere 2.0 includes integration with enterprise SharePoint 2010 deployments for native content storage and full read/write access to document libraries. Coming with enhanced Media Boards, ProtoSphere 2.0 encourages dynamic presentations of live and stored content from multiple-sources, simultaneously, each with its own information format.

In its upgraded version, ProtoSphere provides greater moderator controls, which allows moderators to lock rooms, restricting access when meetings are in progress, and lock content within a location.

With the Usage Reporting and Monitoring feature, ProtoSphere 2.0 allows administrators to run usage reports anytime they require from a simple-to-use web interface. This enables them to track the amount of time spent in different locations and overall product usage.

ProtoSphere comes with an improved user interface, which removes any unnecessary clutter and provides the most immersive experience possible.

“ProtoSphere 2.0 has been a significant undertaking for ProtonMedia, and I could not be prouder of what our team has accomplished with this release. We have believed for some time that meetings alone are not real collaboration,” CEO of ProtonMedia Ron Burns (News - Alert) noted in a statement. “ProtoSphere 2.0 is an extraordinary combination of a 3D immersive environment, a deep unified communications platform, the power of social networking, and the functionality of a next generation e-learning platform, all delivered in a cost-effective cloud offering.”

He added, “This holistic blend of content with context will bring new levels of efficiency and creativity to knowledge-focused industries.”

In June 2011, ProtonMedia secured $4.5 million Series B venture financing led by Kaplan Ventures. The capital helped ProtonMedia to extend its leadership position within life sciences by further integrating its ProtoSphere virtual collaboration environment with ComplianceWire, Kaplan EduNeering's validated cloud-based learning management system.
