Schooner Information Technology Announces New Hires

Two top Oracle (News - Alert) executives, Julie Bryce Munro and Pavan Venkatesh, have joined the leading database software company Schooner Information Technology, Inc.

Julie Bryce Munro has been appointed the senior director of marketing and Pavan Venkatesh has been appointed as the director of product management and strategy. The new appointments are expected to further advance Schooner’s market and product leadership.

Bryce Munro brings her expertise in global marketing of HA solutions to Schooner. She managed product marketing programs in North America for Oracle Exadata.  She was also responsible for global customer services and support for the company’s HA solutions. Prior to Oracle, Bryce Munro spent five years at Red Hat (News - Alert), Schooner said in a press release.

Venkatesh spent three and a half years in Oracle, where he was a member of the technical sales consulting team. He reportedly handled nearly 300 top web-based, e-commerce, enterprise and embedded customers to successfully implement and deploy MySQL for HA use cases.

Before joining the MySQL-Oracle group, Venkatesh was a technical specialist in the Application and Portal server team at Sun Microsystems. He started his career at Wipro Technologies (News - Alert) as a software developer and analyst.

Schooner's current offerings include Schooner SQL and Membrain. The company’s flagship product, Schooner SQL is a full SQL database, while Membrain is optimized for flash memory (SSDs) and used as a pure cache and persistent NoSQL data store.

Schooner is currently focused at expanding its customer base for its new product-‘MySQL on steroids’. The Schooner officials think that Bryce Munro’s marketing experience and Venkatesh’s expertise with MySQL deployments align beautifully with the company’s mission of rolling out its products in the new markets.

“Schooner has always valued and attributed our success to the intelligence, ingenuity and creativity of our team, and we recognize the enormous expertise and skill the company gains by welcoming Julie and Pavan. Schooner is proving to be the de facto HA solution for solving growing database operational problems such as expanding workloads, 24/7 availability requirements, security and integrity risks, and where 100 percent compatibility with traditional MySQL is important, “ Schooner CEO and President, Jerry Rudisin said, in a statement.

A few months back Schooner Information Technology unveiled the SchoonerSQL, a full build of the widely-used MySQL database and its standard InnoDB storage engine.
