Emsisoft Launches Online Armor 5.5 Firewall with Cloud Support

With security breaches and cybercrime on the rise, data protection is critical for businesses today. While any organization can be a target, those most susceptible are businesses that maintain customer records.

Austria-based Emsisoft Online Armor for Windows just launched its 5.5 version firewall, which makes use of the cloud in two ways. First, the firewall is linked to its anti-malware network with more than 4 million known programs and reduces alarm messages, and, second, it uses in-house cloud scanning to expose any malicious files.

The firewall is constantly active in the background and silently monitors network and file activities, giving access to authorized programs only, company officials explained in a statement. They say is makes it nearly impossible for hackers to hijack your computer since all vulnerabilities are closed and suspicious actions are blocked.

Developer Emsisoft, which is known for its security program Emsisoft Anti-Malware, integrated several new features “to increase both comfort and security level for their customers.” The firewall is intended to provide maximum security without interrupting the user’s work, which is achieved through two new cloud services.

Integration of the Anti-Malware Network to classify new programs as "good" or "bad" automatically allows programs that have been verified as safe, so no user interaction is required, resulting in fewer alarm reports.

In addition, Emsisoft Online Armor 5.5 uses in-house cloud scanning, which means any news or unknown programs are instantly scanned for first classification. The cloud-scan is based on the Emsisoft E1 scan-engine already used by MalAware

Emsisoft also simplified its license and update system; software updates are now downloaded and installed much faster. The Online Armor is available in two different versions: Emsisoft Online Armor Free is for free-of-charge use for private users. The company also offers what it calls Emsisoft Online Armor Premium, which includes more advanced features like a phishing filter, file and registry protection, DNS-spoofing protection, automatic updates, and an important online-banking mode.

The new Emsisoft Internet Security Pack contains a full version of Online Armor Premium, which is bundled with the anti-virus tool Emsisoft Anti-Malware.
