Hurricane Electric's IPv6 Certification Program Certifies 4,000 IPv6 Sages

Hurricane Electric (News - Alert) has announced that its IPv6 certification program has certified 4,000 IPv6 Sages in 100 countries.

According to company officials, Sage is the highest level of IPv6 certification. The company’s Hurricane Electric's IPv6 certification program affirms that participants have established IPv6 connectivity; configured IPv6 on web and email servers; configured forward IPv6 DNS.

In addition, it also affirms that participants have configured reverse IPv6 DNS -- for email server only; assigned IPv6 addresses to name servers that can respond to IPv6 queries; passed a test of IPv6 concepts.

Many network administrators, corporate CIOs and others worldwide have opted to gain certification at the highest level, said Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric, adding that the company is committed to providing not only the best global IPv6 network, but also the tools that enable a smooth transition to IPv6.

The World IPv6 is all set to be launched on June 6, 2012. Company officials noted that this approaching launch date makes it imperative that IT operators and network administrators prepare for the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 and have the tools to enable IPv6 on their company's network.

Enterprises that delay the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 will eventually experience connectivity-related issues and possible financial losses as the world moves to IPv6.

Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001. The company’s global Internet backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internal tunnels for IPv6 connectivity.

Last year in November, the company announced that after a year of internal usage, their interactive programming site is open to all.
