Riverbed Helps Organizations Meet IT Performance Priorities

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology has announced it is allowing organizations to meet their top IT performance priorities with the release of two new product series, Steelhead CX and Steelhead EX.

According to officials with the IT performance company, they are evolving the Steelhead product family, which accelerates the performance of applications over the wide area network (WAN).

Powered by the Riverbed Operating System (RiOS) software, the Steelhead product family solves application performance problems to improve productivity and enable global collaboration.

The Steelhead-CX and Steelhead-EX series are expected to be generally available this quarter.

Riverbed Technology’s new releases will enable organizations to centralize virtually all applications. This will drive down operational overhead and costs, yet still maintain high levels of availability and improve end-user satisfaction.

"In an effort to simplify management, increase resource utilization and reduce costs, organizations have been actively consolidating and virtualizing IT environments into centralized data centers," said Bob Laliberte, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group (News - Alert). "While these consolidation efforts provide numerous benefits, it is imperative that organizations ensure that these consolidated IT environments are adequately protected and available. Furthermore, these consolidation efforts can introduce inherent performance over distance challenges.”

Riverbed also recently announced its 4Q and full year revenue and profits for 2011 – boasting a 7 percent increase from $190 million reported in the third quarter of  2011 and an increase of 23 percent from $165 million reported in the fourth quarter of 2010.
