GammaTech Introduces New Rugged Tablet PC Model

GammaTech (News - Alert) Computer Corp., a manufacturer of rugged and hardened notebook and tablet computers for business, government, healthcare, fire, public safety and a host of other entities, announced an addition to its line of RT10 fully rugged computers.

Called RT10C, the new model in the RT10 family of rugged computers comes with several new features including a touch-screen and 10.2” wide display. The new model is compatible with Windows 7 and just like other GammaTech products, the model has been designed and built to stand up to the daily wear and tear of the industrial applications, GammaTech informed in a press release.

Surprisingly lightweight at 5 pounds, RT10C features a compressed military-grade durable design. GammaTech believes that it is this design, which will establish it as the ultimate portable personal computer in the market, setting it apart from the competition.

The unit, according to its maker, meets military 810G standards for durability and IP65 standards for dust resistance. The fully rugged and sealed design completely guards internal components, making the tablet drop-proof, spill-proof, shock-proof, dust-proof, and watertight.

The GammaTech RT10C is powered by Intel (News - Alert) Core i7-620UE mobile processor with integrated HD graphics providing stunning visuals and smooth high-definition video playback. It supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies.

High-resolution (1024x600) WSVGA TFT LCD display with an LED backlight and touch-screen display adds to the users’ convenience. Embedded fingerprint recognition technology and an optional Smart Card reader enhance the security.

RT10C is especially suitable for the integration in the automotive industry, GammaTech's VP of Sales and Marketing Paul Kim noted. Just like all GammaTech products, RT10C also provides many custom capabilities which make it superior than any standard consumer PCs and tablets.

With this rugged model, data processing and capturing becomes easier for the field workers, who can safely carry this model to a plant for use right on the floor with virtually no fear of damage from the work environment, Kim further ensured. Nine-cell Smart lithium-ion battery supports up to five hours of usage, so that the users can continue with their work without needing to recharge in the event of a power outage in the plant.

Just like the rest of its product line, GammaTech is making RT10C available through authorized resellers nationwide and at its online store.

Last month, GammaTech expanded its line of fully rugged convertible computers with the addition of another model. The Durabook R13C, an upgraded version of model R13S, has passed Military Standard 810G certification for drop, shock, and spill protection, plus explosive atmosphere, salt, fog, and freeze/thaw standards. It is perfectly suited for a variety of applications, including law enforcement, military, homeland security, field service, mining, and mobile workers in any type of outdoor environment.
