Three New Members Join The Linux Foundation

The Linux Foundation (News - Alert), a nonprofit consortium dedicated to fostering the growth of Linux, has recently welcomed three new members on board. According to a press release, the three organizations – 4Linux, Erlang Solutions and Linux Professional Institute (LPI (News - Alert)) – are the latest to join the Foundation.

In addition to promoting, protecting and advancing the Linux operating system by marshaling the resources of its members and the open source development community, the foundation also provides extensive Linux training by Linux kernel community's leading experts as instructors.

According to a recent survey, a huge number of IT organizations plan to expand their use of Linux in 2012. By joining The Linux Foundation, 4Linux, Erlang Solutions and LPI can reap the advantages of community resources to advance their business interests. As the members of The Linux Foundation, these three companies are now eligible to take part in the educational programs, network with industry peers and collaborate with the Linux community to advance the operating system for specific opportunities.

Brazilian software training company 4Linux offers training and services based on free and open source software. The company’s high profile client portfolio includes the Federal Government Bank of Brazil for whom 4Linux has implemented open source solutions.

LPI's globally recognized Linux certifications are delivered in thousands of locations worldwide and in multiple languages.

“4Linux, Erlang Solutions and Linux Professional Institute are examples of organizations that are contributing to the work we're all doing as a community to help meet this demand, and we look forward to collaborating with them,” Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer services at The Linux Foundation.
