Los Angeles, California-based, privately-held messaging and communication service provider, j2 Global (News
- Alert), Inc. recently announced its acquisition of Phoenix-based online backup solutions provider Offsite Backup Solutions, LLC. The acquisition paves j2’s way into the US online backup solutions market.
A press release revealed that j2 Global has acquired substantially all of the assets of Offsite Backup Solutions. Financial terms have not been disclosed and the companies have also not mentioned in the press release how the acquisition is going to affect Offsite Backup's operations in Phoenix.
j2 Global offers outsourced value-added messaging and communications services to individuals and businesses around the world under the brands of eFax, eFax Corporate, Onebox, eVoice, My1Voice, Electric Mail, FuseMail, Fax.com, Send2Fax, jConnect, RapidFAX, SmartFax, TrustFax, MyFax (News - Alert), Campaigner, and Onebox.
KeepItSafe is j2’s own online backup service brand which already has a presence in the European market, and the company is going to leverage Offsite’s already established customer base in the US to launch its KeepItSafe brand.
According to j2 Global, KeepItSafe makes a powerhouse in online data backup and Disaster Recovery. The fully managed and monitored online backup solution, according to j2, is one of the few online backup and DR solutions that are ISO 27001 certified. KeepItSafe is designed to support scheduled or continuous data backups flawlessly and enables restoration of data from any location at any time.
“This acquisition brings us an established customer base of online backup services in the US, marking our launch of online backup services in the US, and expands our suite of US-based cloud services for business. We intend to roll these customers onto our flagship KeepItSafe brand, which currently operates exclusively in Europe, and to continue to expand our worldwide base of KeepItSafe customers through a combination of internal growth and tuck in acquisitions,” Hemi Zucker, CEO of j2 Global explained in a statement.
As j2 Global is moving its focus from phone number-centric services – where the company recently announced growth to 2 million subscribers – into complementary lines of non-phone number-centric services, the company thought it appropriate to for a new corporate identity.
Accordingly, the company announced last month that it shortened its registered name to j2 Global, Inc. from j2 Global Communications Inc.
