Futurestate IT Inc. Launches AppRx v2.0

The world of Information Technology is evolving at a rapid pace. Newer versions of applications are being developed, and the older ones are being upgraded to comply with the latest hardware and software infrastructures.

Futurestate IT, a provider of an SaaS (News - Alert)-based application currency management platform, has launched version 2.0 of its AppRx solution. The Toronto, Canada based company is a Microsoft (News - Alert) partner and provides its AppRx solution to customers through a chain of resellers and system integrators. IDC had recently selected Futurestate IT as one of 10 Canadian Cloud Companies to Watch.

AppRx is an automated cloud-based application currency management platform that allows enterprises to assess, migrate and monitor their applications according to current IT scenarios. The solution helps them in application portfolio management and cuts down the time, cost and risk related with application migration projects. Newly introduced AppRx v2.0 will allow companies to monitor and manage their applications so that they are able to comply with changes in the IT environment.

During recent years, IT budgets of enterprises have been considerably reduced, which has negatively affected their efforts to manage the IT infrastructure, as a large number of companies had to focus their efforts on supporting the business at the expense of IT maintenance. This tendency has created a backlog of applications within these organizations that are neither updated nor are supported by latest IT platforms such as Windows 7. Additionally, it has exposed enterprises to the risk of being unable to adopt new technologies and potential application failure. It can lead to reduced productivity due to downtime and risk of non-compliance.

“Organizations can no longer ignore the backlog of out-of-date applications and the risks they pose,” commented Alex Topitsch, chief executive officer at Futurestate IT, Inc. “We created AppRx v 2.0 to enable companies to rapidly determine their application portfolio currency risk, take steps to remediate it, and monitor and manage application currency on an on-going basis.”

The solution offers a cloud-based repository that helps in maintenance of the application inventory of a company, and storing the install files as well. It allows authorized stakeholders to access, update and review the list and files. AppRx Currency Analysis is a yet another feature, which helps enterprises see if their applications are out-of-date or unsupported. Further, it mentions which platforms are compatible with the application to run, and enables the users to run reports for assessing application certification by platform as well as the potential for application upgrade.

In December 2011, BWise, a provider of enterprise governance, risk management and compliance software solutions that allow organizations to track, measure and manage key organizational risks in one integrated system, announced that its BWise SaaS and application management services have been certified by KPMG, an external auditor for the new International Standard on Assurance Engagements No. 3402 or ISAE 3402 Type II.
