Composite Software Has Access to RainStor's Big Data Management Database

Composite Software, a data virtualization solutions provider, and RainStor, a provider of Big Data management software, announced that Composite has added access to RainStor's Big Data management database.

With this, Composite Software enhanced the list of enterprise applications such as Oracle (News - Alert), SAP, and salesforce.com as well as relational and multi-dimensional data sources from IBM, IBM Netezza, Microsoft (News - Alert), Oracle, SAP BW, SAP Sybase and Teradata.

“To maintain our success as the market's leading enterprise data virtualization solution, we must continuously add the latest, most innovative data sources,” said Peter Tran, Composite Software vice president of product marketing, in a statement. “RainStor's compelling economics for Big Data management and our joint philosophy of simplicity in enterprise data access makes our products a natural fit.”

In another announcement, RainStor launched a new product edition that runs natively on Hadoop providing query and analytics through both SQL and MapReduce. RainStor is used as a secondary database for holding historical data from retired applications as well as enterprise data warehouses.

RainStor allows enterprises to retain Big Data for compliance and historical business analysis,” said RainStor VP Product Management Ramon Chen. “We are often asked for the best way to combine the data stored in RainStor with information from its originating source or across other related content.”

The support for RainStor's Big Data Management Database is significant as Composite allows the data retained within RainStor to be easily combined with other enterprise data scattered throughout the organization. The Composite Data Virtualization Platform includes query middleware and complementary offerings that integrate data from multiple and disparate sources across the extended enterprise.

Recently, Composite Software announced that it was among the select companies that Forrester (News - Alert) invited to participate in its data virtualization research report. In this evaluation, Composite Software received perfect scores for data services performance and data services integration.
