Marvell, Tuxera Team Unveils Full-Featured NAS Solution

Marvell (News - Alert) and Tuxera Inc. jointly have rolled out their latest NAS solution that promises to offer superior performance compared to competing Linux solutions.

This latest solution is backed by Marvell’s Kirkwood and ARMADA chipsets, Tuxera's optimized XFS and NTFS technology to offer the fastest 2 GHz NAS performance on the market.

“Our collaboration with Tuxera, who delivers industry-leading file system solutions for NAS, reinforces Marvell's leadership and commitment to breaking barriers in the storage space,” said Paul Valentine, vice president of marketing for the Enterprise Business Unit at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc.

Valentine said that they understand performance is paramount for NAS customers, and they believe features such as file system optimizations - combined with both companies' reputations for quality and support.

Marvell and Tuxera's NAS solution works at 129 megabytes per second, to deliver 2 GHz NAS performance on the market. In addition, this joint solution minimizes the overall development cost and helps customers to achieve fast time in NAS platforms. The new gains in speed enable a new generation of NAS applications that offer a seamless user experience - as well as full portability across NTFS and other storage formats.

“Tuxera is pleased to integrate XFS and NTFS technology with Marvell's market-leading application processors,” said Mikko Valimaki, CEO of Tuxera. “Over the past year, Tuxera's experts in XFS, ARM (News - Alert), network, Samba and performance tuning have worked diligently with Marvell engineers to reach a new industry record in speed. Together, we give manufacturers top-flight, fully-supported NAS solutions they can trust.”

Tuxera's NTFS and exFAT solutions for Android, Linux, Mac OS X and other platforms have hundreds of millions installations in use. The company has a close collaboration with Microsoft (News - Alert) to ensure reliable compatibility and helps Tuxera to set the standard in high-performance, low power use for embedded and mobile solutions.
