AppDynamics recently reported a major customer win; a popular French travel site, Karavel, has selected AppDynamics for its APM (News - Alert) solution.
In a press release, AppDynamics reported growth for the year 2011. The company managed to retain its relationship with clients all over the globe. The company claimed to have outpaced as many as 30 heavy weight competitors such as Compuware DynaTrace, CA (News - Alert) Wily, HP and IBM. Currently, the company has customers who monitor applications with five nodes, 50 nodes, 500 nodes and 5,000 nodes.
This success has helped change the industry perception that that APM is expensive to own and difficult to deploy/use, AppDynamics maintained in the release. In an effort to make APM affordable, user-friendly and easy to deploy, the company also took a trial initiative to offer its APM solutions over the web via free download and SaaS (News
- Alert) trial.
The trials demonstrated that it is possible to evaluate and use AppDynamics solution all by themselves with no account manager or technical consultant by their side.
Karavel, which was looking for an APM solution, evaluated applications from CA Wily, Compuware (News
- Alert) dynaTrace and AppDynamics. On being requested for a trial version by Karavel, AppDynamics has reportedly sent a trial license key for 30 days. After that, the whole AppDynamics installation, deployment and evaluation were solely conducted by customers on their own.
Earlier, AppDynamics announced a partnership with RightScale to help companies with mission-critical Java applications deployment as well application performance monitoring in the cloud. RightScale is a provider of cloud computing management solutions. Thanks to this new partnership, the company is integrating its cloud management platform with AppDynamics’ Java performance monitoring capabilities.
