UnboundID Unveils Developer Toolkit for the SCIM Initiative

Looking to support the Simple Cloud Identity Management (SCIM) initiative, UnboundID (News - Alert) Corp., a developer of cloud identity management software, has unveiled a beta version of the industry's first software development toolkit (SDK), the company has announced.

SCIM is an open initiative focused on how to make moving users to, from, and between clouds standard, secure, fast, and easy.

Apart from focusing on pioneering innovative technologies in the identity management space, UnboundID Labs will also focus on a new research and development division of the company. Also, the company will be prototyping extensions to existing UnboundID products. The first innovation from this new unit is the SCIM SDK beta and this will be available shortly, the company has announced.

“We've worked with the industry's top cloud services providers and leading identity management experts, including Salesforce.com (News - Alert), VMware, Cisco, Google, and Ping Identity, to develop a simple REST-based SDK that eases the flow of identity information between the cloud and the enterprise," said Andy Spillane, Chief Product Officer at UnboundID. "SCIM has the potential to evolve into the standard that is used for managing identity between enterprises and the cloud, which will solve one of the hardest problems facing enterprises.”

To support the demands of today's multi-channel applications, such as cloud-based systems, texting and smart phone applications, UnboundID develops a new class of cloud identity management applications designed to process billions of entries and transactions. Apart from supporting the industry's only updated and maintained LDAP software development toolkit -- the UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java, The UnboundID 3.1 Suite includes the UnboundID Directory Server, the UnboundID Directory Proxy Server, the UnboundID Synchronization Server, the UnboundID Server SDK, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company announced it was named a 2011 "Cool Vendor in Identity and Access Management" by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc., a information technology research and advisory company. According to a release, Gartner's report states that startups and other niche vendors, rather than established players, continue to drive key innovation in the Identity and Access Management market.
