Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Chugoku Systems Limited proclaimed the availability of a SaaS (News
- Alert)-based version of the company's document management system. The system has an installation track record of roughly 400 companies, principally in the manufacturing, retailing, and distribution industries.
The new service, Documal SaaS, is capable of storing documents for each work task that are created as part of project planning, procurement/purchasing and other associated operations. Delivered as a SaaS-based service that makes best use of the Fujitsu Group's highly-reliable datacenters, Documal SaaS eradicates the need for costly ICT investments and allows customers to swiftly begin using the service. Consequently, the service makes it possible for customers to rapidly deploy a document management system, apart from sharing information and strengthening partnership between offices and business partners in and outside Japan, thereby enhancing business efficiency. In the case of an evaluation or audit, records of work performed using the service can be replicated when necessary, eliminating the necessity to manually create special documentation thus making the process effortless. Moreover, the service includes various highly-convenient features, which include work templates that can easily be personalized by users as well as workflow functions that assist the management of operations logs as well as other information.
During a trial run of the service, a participating customer was able to make operations paperless by digitalizing a process that involved the annual printing of about 1,600 pages of thirteen diverse kinds of application forms, and also by taking advantage of the software's workflow features. Thus the customer succeeded in lowering the printing, storage, and shipping costs while speeding up consent and notification processes. Emission of carbon dioxide was also slashed by 63%
