- Alert) has announced the release of Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.1, which, according to the company, improves the company’s open source, cross-platform virtualization software.
VirtualBox 4.0 provides a major revamp of the VirtualBox Manager with features such as VM Preview, an orderable VM list, and optional attribute panes, allows admins or power users to customize the interface to make it as simple or as comprehensive as they require.
By introducing a powerful new virtual machine cloning facility, enhanced large system support, improved remote access, and expanded platform and application support, new capabilities within Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.1 significantly increase the usability and flexibility of the product. Oracle VM VirtualBox supports a variety of host operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux and other popular flavors of Linux, the company stated in a press release.
“By significantly enhancing the world’s most popular cross-platform virtualization software for the second time within a year, Oracle is clearly demonstrating its commitment to both the desktop virtualization market and the open source community,” said Wim Coekaerts, senior vice president, Linux and Virtualization Engineering, Oracle. “With the enhancements that have been introduced in Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.1, customers can benefit from significant usability and flexibility improvements.”
Oracle VM VirtualBox, with over 46 million downloads, is a part of Oracle’s comprehensive portfolio of virtualization solutions, which enables desktop or laptop computers to run multiple guest operating systems simultaneously. This allows users to get the most flexibility and utilization out of their PCs, the company has stated.

- Alert) 2011 Leaders Quadrant of its “Magic Quadrant for CRM Customer Service Contact Centers” report. The report explains that “This Magic Quadrant looks at CRM software for customer service representatives in the contact center. In its “Magic Quadrant for CRM Customer Service Contact Centers” report, Gartner wrote of Oracle Siebel CRM, “Siebel remains the CRM application most in use globally by large enterprises in 2011.”
