SAE Magnetics Chooses Aeroflex PXI 3000 Series

Aeroflex (News - Alert) Limited, a provider of test and measurement equipment and microelectronic solutions, announced that SAE Magnetics (HK) Ltd., a division of TDK Corporation and a manufacturer of magnetic recording heads for hard disk drives, has commissioned a production line based on Aeroflex PXI 3000 Series multi-technology test platform.

“We chose the Aeroflex PXI 3000 Series because it provides all the measurement capability we need in a single multi-technology box, and it is both faster and more highly integrated than other test solutions we evaluated,” Michael Yang, director of engineering for SAE Magnetics said in a press release.

“Not only are we seeing immediate results in terms of greater throughput and higher customer yields, but the modular nature of the PXI system also means that it can be readily upgraded to meet our future production test needs,” Yang added.

Aeroflex claims that its PXI 3000 is already established as a market leader in testing devices for LTE (News - Alert), as well as across multiple wireless technologies and standards.

“SAE Magnetics needed a test system that could characterize both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios on the same platform,” added C H Leung, business development manager for PXI with Aeroflex Test Solutions in the Asia Pacific region.

“The high level of applications support that we have been able to offer SAE, and our ability to respond in a rapid and flexible manner to their needs, has also been a key factor in their decision to install Aeroflex equipment.”

As indicated, the speed improvements that SAE has achieved is basically due to the modular control of Aeroflex’s hardware and software, and from the collaboration among SAE and Aeroflex to optimize the test process. Also, further advantage of having multiple cellular and non-cellular technologies integrated into the same test instrument is that the box has a much smaller footprint than discrete test solutions. Due to this both the companies believe that the equipment will always be fully utilized rather than having instruments standing idle while other technologies are being measured. Time consumed is less, said the company official.

Recently, Aeroflex presented its new Auto-Test II technology for testing TETRA mobile stations on the 3920 Digital Radio Test Set to the visitors of TETRA World Congress in Budapest.
