A leading provider of enterprise-class cloud storage service, Nirvanix (News - Alert) recently appointed cloud industry veteran Paul Froutan as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
In a press release, the company said that the appointment is effective immediately. Froutan will report to Scott Genereux, President and CEO of Nirvanix.
The move coincides with the company’s major share gains over the past few months. Froutan’s strong background in managed services and data center is expected to help the company further expand its market presence.
In his new role, Froutan will be responsible for driving long-term cloud storage strategy and vision, based on anticipated market direction and customer and partner needs. To perform his duties, Froutan will be collaborating with Nirvanix's Engineering Organization. Along with the engineering team, Froutan will help chalk out the company’s future technology strategies. Nirvanix plans to further develop its services and optimize data center efficiency on the basis of this strategy. Through a technological enhancement, the company aspires to meet the demands of a growing clientele in the enterprise cloud sector.
According to Nirvanix, Froutan has extensive experience in the cloud services industry. Before joining Nirvanix, Froutan was heading Google’s (News

In this role, he was responsible for designing, building and managing the extremely high levels of reliability and efficiency present in Google's worldwide green data center operations. Prior to Google, Froutan was Vice President of Product Development at Rackspace (News - Alert) Hosting, where he led the team that pioneered the launch of Rackspace Cloud and other key managed services.
On personal front, Froutan is a holder of patent for Exterminator, the first Intrusion (News

“Nirvanix is at a strategic inflection point in the cloud industry with substantial differentiation and growth potential. The company is the only service provider to own a Public Cloud Storage Network and deliver Private Cloud Storage nodes, enabling it to provide Hybrid, Federated Cloud Storage with complete network visibility, management and service level guarantees. I plan to expand upon this competitive advantage and enable the company to make significant inroads in a market that is forecast to reach $7B by 2014,” CTO of Nirvanix Paul Froutan noted in a statement.
In May, Nirvanix announced that it has integrated Nirvanix Cloud Storage technology as a storage tier for the latest edition of Symantec (News - Alert) Enterprise Vault, the industry's most widely deployed archiving solution.
